Winter/Spring

Our Winter/Spring season is the busiest for MRC. We run both our Competitive season for 8th-12th grade along with our non-competitive camps for those in 6th-8th grade. Those in 8th grade can choose between the two.

Competitive: Starts first Monday of December and runs through mid-May.  Practices are 6 days a week, in the afternoon/evening weekdays and morning on Saturdays. This is where our motto of Love, Trust, Hard Work really shines!

Three options for registering for our Competitive Program:

  • Full Program (Winter/Spring): The vast majority of our athletes register for this program. This properly prepares them for the race season in the spring.
  • Spring Only: This is for select athletes who are involved in a winter sport already and may not have the time to come to our winter training practices. We encourage these athletes to come to as many practices as possible during the winter to "check-in" with the coaches. Your athlete MUST be approved by the coaching staff to take this route. It is only for special circumstances. You must contact Harry Faunce @ mrc.commodore@gmail.com and explain why you want to register for this.
  • Winter Only: If you have an athlete who participates in a Spring sport other than rowing but they want to get into great shape over the Winter break, then this is for them! Indoor crew practice is transformative and will help any athlete of any sport.

Middle School Program: For those new to the sport or who want to learn more about rowing, we offer camps during the winter and spring months, teaching both proper erg use, cross-training, and, of course, water time in the spring. The camps are typically once or twice a week for a series of weeks. They are great for anyone in 6th-8th grade.
